2008 – A computer expert gets two years in jail for electronically stalking Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington.  Devon Townsend used a computer to track him.  She also admits to obtaining family photos, accessing email and voicemail, as well as threatening his wife Talinda.   2004 – Mud singer Les Gray dies of a heart attack at age 57.  He was also fighting throat cancer.   2002 – Elton John accuses the music industry of exploiting young singers and dumping talented artists in favor of manufactured groups.    1996 – The album “Fresh Horses” is certified gold, platinum and triple-platinum for country super-star Garth Brooks   1992 – Singer Jane Pickens dies of heart failure in Newport, RI.  She was the lead vocalist of the Pickens Sisters trio from  the 1930’s.   1976 – Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson are #1 on the country charts with – Good Hearted Woman   1975 – David Bowie releases the single – Young Americans’ – it becomes his breakthrough hit in the states.  During the recording, he follows the suggestion of soul artist Luther Vandross for the backing vocal arrangements.   1964 – The New York band – The Echoes – recruit a young unknown piano player to join them. The musician – Billy Joel   1961 – The Beatles crank out 3 gigs in one day.  A lunch show at The Cavern Club – that evening they played at separate Liverpool locations – the Cassanova Club and later at Litherland Town Hall.   1954 – Secret Love is #1 on the charts for Doris Day   1953 – The late Hank Williams Sr is #1 on the Billboard country chart with – Kaw-Liga
