2012 – An invitation-only memorial is held for Whitney Houston. The British Government told US officials they wanted the files to remain secret as MI5 also had files on Lennon they had passed on to the FBI in the 70’s 1995 – guitarist Bob Stinson from The Replacements dies from a drug overdose. 1990 – Freddie Mercury makes his final public appearance on stage at the Dominion Theatre in London, England. He joins his Queen band-mates there to receive the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music. 1988 – During the taping of an episode of “Dolly!” at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House, Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner performed together for the first time since their split in 1974 1972Led Zeppelin are set to begin their first tour of Australia. However, drenching rains leave the stage and equipment unsafe, so they are forced to hold the concert in Adelaid the following night. They reportedly bring the largest PA system seen in Australia to hold what was expected to be the loudest rock show ever heard. 1966 – Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys records Good Vibrations. It would go on to be the bands 3rd number one hit. Brian came up with the idea for the song from  a story his mother told him as a child, that dogs could pick up “vibrations” from people and would bark at “bad vibrations”. 1965 – While in the Abbey Road Studios in London, The Beatles record two new songs. John Lennon’s – You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away – and Paul McCarney’s – Tell Me What You See 1962The Everly Brothers, on weekend leave from the Marines, appear on the Ed Sullivan Show in full uniform and regulation hair cuts. They perform their latest single – Crying In The Rain 1959 Ray Charles records – What’d I Say – in New York City. The call and response between Charles and his backup singers on the song during concerts had made it a show favorite. It would also become his biggest hit to date.
